In 1989, the building was renovated for the first time by Carla & Mervyn, who, from England, fell in love with this magical place. When they first arrived in San Bartolomeo in the summer, the barn was surrounded by fields of blooming sunflowers, which is why they decided to call the small farmhouse “La Casetta dei Girasoli” (The Little Sunflower House).
This is me, Lucia. Born and raised in Città della Pieve, I have been working as a hospitality manager for many years and will be able to recommend the best itineraries, restaurants and things to do during your stay. One day while walking in the countryside, I came across this splendid farmhouse on the slopes of Mount Cetona, it was love at first sight… It was the house of my dreams and thanks to the lucky meeting with Carla & Mervyn, the old owners, in 2022 my wish has come true, although it is really important for me to say that Il Pomerio, without the irreplaceable help of my father Stefano and my mother Stefania, would not be my home today. Every window at Il Pomerio is like a painting and here I can put into practice all my greatest passions: walking, doing yoga, cooking and inviting friends and family to this corner of paradise.
The border between the two regions of Umbria and Tuscany passes through the garden of this property., so you can enjoy a coffee in Umbria and a glass of wine in Tuscany just in the same place 🙂 The term “Pomerio” in Roman times meant “boundary,” and the name of this place derives from here.
